I'm Too Old For This

Within ten minutes of my arrival in Ios I knew that I would be leaving the next day. The extreme party atmosphere was compounded by the fact that 80% of the tourists were Italian. This mixture made the whole situation on the island seem very skeezy. The beach was also very disappointing. It's pretty small but since I got there early I was able to find a pretty nice spot. I spent the day lounging around, counting the hours until I could call home. I was feeling really frustrated and lonely; I'd met so many people so quickly when I was in Athens I didn't have the chance to be homesick. But, sitting alone on the beach with nothing to do made me long for home. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting from Ios, the island itself is quite beautiful, but the party scene was too much for me. Even though I am only 19 I feel way too old to indulge in over-the-top partying. I might not ever come back to Greece, so I don't want to spend what little time I have here drunk or hung over...

The ferry I took to Ios. Even though I live on the river, the port of Pireaus was somthing to behold.

Me, not so happy on the beach on Ios

Damn, I've got to figure out the "night" feature on my camera

Ios, early in the morning

The most beautiful thing I saw on Ios (I snapped this picture as the ferry I was taking to Santorini departed)
